About The Artist
Brett,
I never thought of myself as an artist. I am an electromechanical engineer not traditionally trained. From a young age I was building things (taking them apart really) I started welding at age 13 when I was watching a neighbor weld and I was fascinated. He asked me if I wanted to try it and I was hooked. Even before that I started playing with electricity much to my parents concern. Again I started by taking things apart but I found a use for it as my father did not like me listening to Rock and Roll I took apart an AM FM clock radio. It was all in pieces, when he was not around I would reassemble it and listen to the local Rock stations and then disassemble it again. He did not believe that it worked because it was in so many pieces! I also became interested in photography at 15 when my friend Jack brought over his enlarger and we developed film and made some prints. We never had an official darkroom we would setup in whatever dark place we could find or make. After I built my first computer in my early 20’s I became fascinated with desktop publishing and printing. After stepping away from photography for several years at which time digital photography was in its infancy and very expensive I found a need to capture digital images to use on E-bay. I started with a capture card and an old video camera as a basic digital camera was still over $1000. I finally received a Sony Mavica that wrote files to a 3 and a half inch floppy disk as a birthday present from my Mom and I was back in business. I used it along with desktop publishing to make many things from Christmas presents to my first website.
I still did not consider myself as an artist. I was very good at layout and had an eye for framing a picture. When I was young I had the chance to work with Richard Gross a photographer that had previously shot for magazines like Sunset. My Father was friends with him and told him I was interested in photography. He tutored me and even hired me to help him with weddings. I went on to add photography to my scuba diving and even drone photos. I still however do not pick colors, I only capture them with my camera!
As Gigi and I built this site and designed the shirts she picked the colors and I did layout. When we hired Krista to build the website I designed the pages, made mock-ups in desktop publisher for her and even designed the very first shirt “1st Bean”. I just might be an artist. I have owned 3 different 48 inch inkjet printers and I am currently printing and cutting all our decals and stickers. I look forward to one day printing and mounting my photos myself and making them available if others are interested. I look forward to the next chapter!
Gigi,
Krista R.
We met Krista on fiver when we were looking for someone to build this website. She has done an amazing job and we cannot thank her enough, without her we would not have this amazing site. If you have a project please look her up on Fiver. We asked her to write something here but I think she was to shy. Thank you so much Krista!
Mei M.
We also found Mei on Fiver but she is no longer there as she is a talented freelance graphic artist. She is in Germany. She made 3 of our color graphics, “Tropical Beach”, “Explore The Bbeanz” and the two palm trees that is currently only on our stickers. She is an amazing artist and we lost touch with her when she left fiver but I encourage you to find her on social media by searching @lissamii, if you want amazing artwork. She too did not send us a bio. Thank you Mei!
